Gladio Mori Guide

Tips and frequently asked questions

Quick answer

Straight answers to the questions Gladio Mori players actually ask — pulled from the Steam discussions, launch-week lobbies and the things new players get wrong in their first session.

Is there co-op? No. The campaign is single-player and online play is arena PvP (up to four players, crossplay between Steam, PS5 and Xbox). This is the most-asked question in the Steam discussions since launch, so if you were hoping to campaign with a friend: as of 1.0, you cannot.

How do you win with no health bars? Damage a muscle and the limb weakens, sever an artery and the fighter bleeds out, hit a vital organ for an instant kill, or take limbs off entirely. The full breakdown is on the damage system page.

Why does my opponent always seem faster? Two usual answers: your sword arm is damaged (muscle injuries reduce your swing output — the game tells you through feel, not a UI bar), or your weapon is heavier than theirs and you are mistiming the recovery. Both are covered in how to play.

Can I slow the game down? Yes — Gladio Mori supports game speed settings from 0.25x to 1.00x, and there are achievements for winning rounds at each speed. Slow motion is a genuine teaching tool: the physics resolve slowly enough to watch what your blade is actually doing to a body.

Is the Pugilist (unarmed) moveset overpowered? The community argued about this all launch week — demo players were given the Pugilist moveset and it stayed popular. Unarmed has zero reach and a real skill ceiling; whether it is "too strong" is a balance conversation the developer (a solo dev, active in the discussions) is having in public. For now: it is fun, it is hard, and it is not a free win.

How do I play with friends? Lobbies support up to four players with crossplay; friends on different platforms just need the same patch. The multiplayer guide has the setup and the most common connection fixes.

"Failed to connect" — what do I do? Nine times out of ten in launch week it was a patch mismatch — the 1.0.2.1 hotfix rolled out across platforms at different speeds. Update, restart, retry. Details in the multiplayer guide.

How do I install community movesets? Two ways: the in-game community gallery (equip a full moveset or cherry-pick single moves) and mod.io for content beyond the editor. See the move editor guide and the mods guide.

Should I learn the move editor right away? Learn the combat basics first, then the editor. The editor is where this game opens up, but building good moves requires knowing what a good move needs to do — start with how to play, then graduate.

Is it like Half Sword? They share DNA — physics melee, no health bars — but Gladio Mori is a gladiator arena game with an organ-specific damage model and a first-class move editor. Players coming from Half Sword usually find the biggest adjustment is that blade angle matters more here (our damage system guide explains why).

How often does it update? Frequently. Early Access ran nearly two years with regular content drops (new weapons, armor, arenas, a damage system overhaul in July 2026, mod.io integration in December 2025), and the launch week already shipped a hotfix. Patch notes land on the Steam news feed — we re-verify pages here after notable patches.

Is the game still worth it solo? If you only ever play the campaign: it is a real mode with three difficulties, and it is the best place to practice. If you want the full value, multiplayer is where the game lives.
